Don't you love a summer barbecue? There's nothing better than friends and family getting together to enjoy food cooked outside on the grill. But for someone like me who's trying to eat healthy, barbecues can be stressful and pitted with temptations.

Fortunately, I've discovered a neat trick for making sure I can eat a Fat Loss Plate at any barbecue I go to: I always offer to bring a side dish. At most barbecues, grilled meats (Proteins) are the star of the show, and there are also plenty of Fast Carbs such as potato salad or pasta salad. So I take the opportunity to make sure there's at least one dish with some Slow Carbs, like a bean and tomato salad or a low-fat coleslaw.
